Hollin Croft is situated to the south of Romaldkirk overlooking the village. Romaldkirk has an award winning hotel, the Rose and Crown, a local pub the Kirk Inn, three village greens overlooked by St. Romalds Church known as the Cathedral of the Dales. The village was recently short listed by “Country Life” as the prettiest in North East England. There are numerous walks from the village including the Teesdale Way. The Pennine Way, The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, England's largest waterfall - High Force, and Raby Castle are in the locality.
